Spring in Winter, Spyder & Gardening January 2012 - a set on Flickr

Spring in winter. Who would've thought I'd be washing the car & gardening (with Gary going for a nice run) on January 8th, 2012?

Nuts about Tech / iPad 2, iPad 1, iPhone > Now using the new iOS. Icebreaker with friends

Among my techie friends, a great ice-breaker and conversation starter is finding all those short-cuts (Easter Eggs) when using the latest OS upgrades on your portables... The window to the world for many independents out there like myself. Pinterest, ScoopIt are two of my latest "curation" applications that integrate well with my iPad and have both business and personal applications.

Top 40, Butterfly House, Niagara Parks 2011 - Photos & Short Videos

This is a portion of a spectacular trip to visit friends in Saint Catherines, Ontario. I had never been to Niagara Falls. This trip to the butterfly house in the area was the icing on the cake.

The movie of my experience at Niagara Falls is in rough cut stage. (Will edit it down when I have a few minutes.)

You can see the rough cut (with the White Water Walk, the gorgeous plantings, the Falls movie clips, the behind the Falls views & photos, here on YouTube.

Up in the air! Piloting for 5 minutes with Pam, Wow!

What a FUN, educational and surprising visit to see Vinny and Pam Palmieri at Promotions-etc.com.

Surprising = 1) up in the air in their Cessna, and

P1020436

2) Wow, the Tiger corn maze and the University of Michigan Stadium, and

P1020479_2
3) I'M ACTUALLY flying the plane, oh my!

If you go to Flickr here, you can click on the slideshow to the upper right and you'll see the whole thing play out, photos and videos, just like I experienced it.

Pam & Vinny have a great business, work with integrity, and share a graceful, happy life enjoying the air.  Skydiving brought them together.

They have chosen to be a Michigan business.  While visiting, I was treated to:

1) Networking exchange.  Pam is supportive of many local businesses in the SE Michigan area and beyond!

2) A tour of all that she does.  Amazing quality and breadth of promotions.  See the video on her Facebook page for Promotions-etc.

3) FLYING.  Up we go!

4) Corn maze tiger and animals, designed for pilots, people of the air to enjoy, and that we did!

5) Heading to UM stadium.  We could see the scoreboard to navigate from a long way away.

6) Great shot of the stadium, and video too.  Exciting!

7) Wow, I'M FLYING!!!

All in all, AWESOME fun!

Our great water sports adventure in Key West, Fury Watersports

Parasailing & Ultimate Adventure, Key West Fury Style! from Deb Nystrom on Vimeo.

The Fury Watersports people in Key West bill this water tour as the Ultimate Adventure. Well, for me, it is!

I'm not a strong swimmer, and cannot tread water, but challenged myself to do the snorkeling.  What a personal achievement for me, being able to enjoy the coral reef schools of fish and avoid (and enjoy) the moon jellyfish.

THE HIGHLIGHT of the entire cruise vacation (Royal Caribbean Bahamas, Key West) was my first parasail takeoff. Wow!  And a peaceful glide over the turquoise ocean. We had an extra dip or two as well!  All of us on the parasail boat seemed to be having great fun.

If you hover your mouse pointer over the videos or slides while they are playing, you can also click on the arrows to expand them to full screen.

All the best to the fabulous Fury crew and management who made it well organized, and FUN for us!  Fury Girl (the social media Facebook blogger a 'la Key West) put a cool comment about my stuff here on their Facebook page.  Check it out!

This was the first cruise that Geri and I had ever done. We are both friends with Sophia. This cruise was a special celebration of her 40th birthday. How great to do a cruise with the fabulous Sophia and all that went with it!

My Flickr photo set, including some video clips, of our cruise to Nassau, the Bahamas, before Hurricane Irene, and my new favorite: Key West, walking around, taking a pedicab, and including the terrific day of water fun via Fury Watersports with some additional video clips is below.

This is the Key West photos set, with Fury's "Ultimate Adventure" in the 2nd half.

Below is the full set of photos from the entire Royal Caribbean 4 day cruise on Majesty of the Seas.  It was awesome!  The food was great!  AND, I did NOT gain weight.  (Doing Jazzercise on the boat and dancing 2 nights away until the wee hours really helped!)

If you'd like to see the version with captions for each photo or mini-video, go to  flickr.comClick on slideshow on the upper right for an option to see it all scroll by as well, on Flickr.

I've left a review on TripAdvisor with my review and a few photos too.

Horseplay Leadership Experience 2011 - A Taste of...

It wouldn't be fair, in my view, to share what is custom to each leader, team, group or individual. However, this is a taste of what is really quite extraordinary in what Christina and Lynne offer to groups & organizations. I'm thinking my coaching clients would also benefit.

Classic & Muscle Cars, Charlevoix & Ann Arbor, July 2011

I love car shows including the Rolling Sculpture show in Ann Arbor.  I had to miss it this year due to vacation, but a drive by gave me a glimpse of all the fun that I remember from Boys with the Cars show in 2010. It may have been bigger this year.  Was it?

The A2 Journal covered the show with a video this year.

I also learned that the Ann Arbor Rolling Sculpture Car Show is now in its 17th year, sponsored by Bill Crispin Chevrolet and the Main Street Area Association.

I was amused and happy to find some classic cars in my vacation stomping grounds, Friday in Charlevoix.  Smaller, but still quality.   Here's a tour of what was happening up north where my "drive by" was up close and personal with the cool cars.

Here's the Charlevoix July 2011 set:

Sunset in 14 Seconds & Flora Up North, Antrim County, Michigan

The views are spectacular.  This is sunset last evening:

The native plants are beautiful as well.  A number of them are quite rare.  Can anyone help identify these two below?

I posted last nights 14 second Antrim Creek sunset video to my Facebook page.

You can see the last spark over Grand Traverse Bay:

By the way, the  public Facebook video of this sunset wouldn't load, even though it was permitted to "everyone."  So Flickr, my favorite site for photos and smaller videos, photo & video collections, fixed that!  Price is still $25 a year for a "pro" account.

A pretty cool follow-up to our strange, scary beginning via deer/van crash (earlier blog post.)  I won't be driving up north at dusk or dark again anytime soon!

These are photos of my kids (both in their 20s) at the lovely county park on Grand Traverse Bay the evening after that nasty deer / car incident.  It was a good way to put things in perspective, that we were a) unhurt, b) didn't have our kids in the car to experience it, and c) can replace the van (insurance, ok.)

How handy my two adult urchins were there in their own car to 1) rescue us at the late night Tim Horton's after the car/deer crash and 2) help us enjoy some typical family banter and campfires before they headed home to their summer jobs.

Happy July-ing,
